EDUCATION

Inspiring great minds of the future

Palmerston North’s brand as a center for education is recognised nationally and internationally, inspiring great minds of the future. This is reflected in our population which holds the highest number of PhDs per capita in the country, including the highest number of Māori with doctoral degrees.

With three main tertiary institution’s, private training organisationsestablishments, Te Wananga Aotearoa, ITO’s, along with Crown Research Institutes, and 70 primary, intermediate and secondary schools, this is a community that has long valued, welcomed and supported education and we want you to join us.

We've got a city-wide emphasis on a student-centred approach to learning, demonstrated by the development and sharing of different education models and pedagogies throughout the local network of learning. The city is home to education providers who are pioneers and leaders in multi-location, multi-language and multi-modal delivery in New Zealand and is wired into priority learners through a dynamic network of relationships, fora and tools.

Palmerston North city and Manawatū are known for offering excellent education, with a good variety of schooling options to suit every family’s need.

There are a range of high schools, some with boarding options in region, and a selection of intermediate and primary schools. Find more about local schools here. We've also got fantastic early childhood options.
